The Answers You Need

Here are some of the most asked questions that clients have when first trying out eyelash extensions

Eyelash Plucking

Do eyelash extensions ruin my natural lashes?

If they are applied correctly and applied by a certified professional, no. In Canada, eyelash extensions are not regulated meaning there are individuals who are providing these services who are not qualified to do so. Do your research, ask questions and ask to see your techs certifications and history in the field.

How often Should I Refill my eyelash extensions?

Although most individuals can last anywhere from 2-5+ weeks there are many factors that affect how long your lash extensions last. On average, people lose 2-5 natural lashes per day. Many biological factors in addition to daily routines and hormones can affect the retention of your eyelash extensions. It is recommended to plan refills between 2 to 3 weeks. I would not recommend going longer than 3.5 weeks for a refill. However, everyone is different an it's a discussion that varies with each client.

I have sensitivity to lash glues, can I still get eyelash extensions?

It's not impossible! There are many alterations we can do to make the application of the lashes much more enjoyable and comfortable prior, during and after your appointment. There are different adhesives that can be used that are made specifically for sensitive eyes as well as cleansing, and thoroughly drying the lashes throughout the appointment to minimize any possible reactions.
However, if lashes are not possible - other alternative exist such as a lash lift and tint which is an extremely popular service that allows your natural lashes to be permed creating a lifting effect. It's also much less maintenance than lash extensions and involved little to no aftercare.

Do i need to prep before my appointment?

Yes, please arrive with no eye makeup (and preferably no face makeup or heavy ace creams), do not curl or use mascara prior to your appointment and make sure your entire eye area is free of any dirt, oil or makeup residue. Arriving with the following on or around your eye area will result in a decreased amount of lashing time due to the extra time needed to clean the eye area.

Can i get my eyelash extensions wet/ exercise?

Yes! you can shower, swim, exercise and enjoy your lashes in any way that you please. It is important to note that the lash extensions MUST remain dry for the first 24-48 hours after your appointment to ensure proper setting time. Failure to allow proper drying time can result in your lash extensions falling out quicker than they are supposed to.

how do i take care of my eyelash extensions?

After your appointment:

  • Refrain from getting them wet (including sweat -exercise) for 24-48 hours to allow for proper setting time

  • Do not tan 24-48 hours after application

  • Refrain from using mascara or liquid products on the eye area - aim for powders instead to help increase longevity of the lashes.

  • Use oil-free products on or around the eye area (this is one of the most important steps as oil breaks down the bond of the glue)

  • Do not rub, pick, roll, or pull on your lash extensions

  • Refrain from using an eyelash curler

  • Keep them clean by using a lash cleanser or oil free baby shampoo (Johnson and Johnson - yellow bottle) to cleanse your lashes and keep them clean from oil, dirt and  makeup residue.

Makeup Trials

Why do I have to come for a fill every 3 weeks?

Regular maintenance of lash fallout and also the removal and replacement of grown out lashes are absolutely necessary by (usually) the 3 mark point regardless of how well the lash extensions have adhered to the natural lashes.

We shed naturally 2-5 lashes per day per eye so it is important to upkeep those infills to keep the lashes looking full and fluffy.

Some individuals need to come closer to the 2 week mark in order to maintain fullness while other's can easily make it to 5+ weeks before a fill. While retention can be extended through maintenance - there are many hormonal and lifestyle factors that can contribute to the wear time of your lash extensions.
